Stadium costs, a taxpayer scam?

@currentaffiarsmag is talking about pro sports stadiums that are supported by taxpayers. The message: taxpayer backed stadiums are a scam. Over 90 percent of NFL stadiums were built using at least partial subsidy money.

They drive the point home by noting that when affordability concerns are high, asking taxpayers to foot the bill for wealthy teams owners is fishy. No offense to fish.

In the Journal of Economic Surveys, a comprehensive study on the impact that new stadiums have on local economies concluded in 2022 that “nearly all empirical studies find little to no tangible impacts of sports teams and facilities on local economic activity, and the level of venue subsidies typically provided far exceeds any observed economic benefits.”
