New concept: bill to penalize false committee testimony

Arizona legislators are considering HB 2824 (2025 | AZ) that would allow the legislative committees to subpoena members of the executive branch. If the resulting testimony is false penalties would lead to perjury charges.

“If you come down to testify before this committee essentially to influence the political process and to influence the force of government, either in your favor or protect yourself from it, you should not be able to lie to members of the Legislature when you do so,” Sen. Jake Hoffman, R-Queen Cree.
