17 Legislatures limiting state agency power

New York Times wants us to know that 17 state legislatures are making moves to limit state agency powers related to technology, finance, and energy.

Their list of regulatory limits relate to small nuclear reactors, electricity costs, and all in the name of economic growth. South Carolina’s Republican Speaker of the House explained that unelected bureaucrats should not be making rules.

The driving force in South Carolina is the Small Business Regulatory Freedom Act to remove state-level controls on business, work places, and the environment. For South Carolina this is phase two. Phase one passed last year with Model legislation from ALEC.
